Many visitors to the Costa Blanca often travel to the well-known tourist destinations such as Torrevieja, Alicante, Benidorm and L'Albir. But just before Benidorm and L'Albir, you'll find the cosy coastal gem of Villajoyosa. The town has been named Europe's hidden gem of the year by European Best Destinations. With a long sandy beach and lovely colourful buildings, this town immerses you in Spanish culture.

What makes Villajoyosa unique?

The small town of Villajoyosa, or ‘La Vila’ as the locals call it, has a lot to offer. Here you'll find several blue-flagged beaches including Bol Nou and the city beach Playa Centro, which is one of the city's most popular beaches, offering crystal clear waters perfect for swimming, relaxing, snorkelling and water sports.

Along the city beach you'll also find the popular promenade, which is full of cafés and seafood restaurants, offering a cosy atmosphere while enjoying a meal with beautiful views and sea breezes.

The city is also known for its chocolate heritage, with the Valor Chocolate Museum being a highlight. Here you can enjoy delicious tastings while learning about the rich history of chocolate production in the region. The historic city centre, with its narrow winding streets and colourful houses, is perfect for leisurely strolls. Sights include the Gothic-style Iglesia de la Asunción church and the well-preserved 16th-century city walls.

Good connections with neighbouring areas

Villayojosa is strategically located within easy reach of neighbouring towns such as Benidorm, just 10 minutes‘ drive, and Alicante, just 25 minutes’ drive. Alicante airport can also be reached in just 35 minutes, making this an ideal holiday destination. With the AP-7 and N-332 motorways, you can conveniently access the entire region and reach many surrounding destinations in a short time, such as the mountain village of Guadalest and a number of first-class golf resorts.

In addition, there are excellent public transport options with bus connections and the TRAM Metropolitano de Alicante, which runs all the way from Alicante to Benidorm and offers a cosy tram ride along the coast.

Villajoyosa as an investment opportunity in the property market

Villajoyosa is a pleasant destination that attracts many tourists during the holiday season and is also an excellent city for permanent residence for those seeking a quiet but accessible location. This ensures a steady demand for property for sale in Villajoyosa.

Property prices here are generally more affordable compared to more tourist-orientated areas such as Benidorm or Alicante. Therefore, this is a great place to invest. The city offers a range of unique housing options, from charming historic homes in the city centre to modern apartments and luxury villas with sea views.

There are a number of construction projects underway in Villajoyosa, fuelling growth in the area, as well as planned infrastructure improvements and a commitment to preserving the city's cultural heritage. As a result, Villajoyosa continues to grow in popularity and remains an attractive place for travellers and residents alike.
